Andy only gets 1 scheduled week of vacation each year. So even if it's only a month into the school year, we get to pull Emma out & hit the road. This year we decided to take it easy with a nice, relaxed vacation in Pinetop.
Bonus: Andy's parents have a time-share condo & their points were due to expire in September, so we got to stay there for free! We cleaned all of the groceries out of our fridge, took them with us, & we were set! I counted, and in the 6 days that we stayed there, we only left the resort 3 times.
.
Once to fish:
Once to fish:
And once to visit friends & go out to eat. It was awesome!
.The rest of the time, our vacation looked something like this:
.Eat breakfast on the balcony:
.

And we also spent plenty of time on the playground & in the sandbox.

And we ALL loved watching the red-headed woodpeckers play with the mean 'ol blue jay that liked our balcony. The squirrels & chipmunks were hilarious, & we also got to see this:
I know, bad picture. But, we got to sit on the side of the road for 30 minutes & watch about 40 elk come down off the mountain & into a horse pasture. It was amazing to watch the mommas & babies together & hear them calling each other. The kids had fun pretending to be elk:
and even more fun pretending to shoot them. Ugh!
.Eat breakfast on the balcony, swim:
Etc, etc.
.We did take some time out to play some video games in the clubhouse:
Jack couldn't swim for the first couple of days because of his surgery the week before, but the lounge chairs were super interesting to him & he was perfectly content to hang out while the big kids swam like little fish. Once he could get in the water though, there was no stoppin' this kid. He LOVES to swim!
All in all, it was a very relaxing & rejuvinating week. Add in the fact that it cost us next to nothing, & out vacation was a complete success.
Until next year.......Sigh......It's hot in Tucson......Sigh.......I miss Pinetop.....Sigh....

What great pictures!! It looks so beautiful up there. That sounds and looks like such the perfect vacation. I'm glad you all had a great time. Definitely can't beat the price!
That looks like an AWESOME vacation!! And good timing that while you were there you got to see the wild animals. Pinetop sure is pretty...looks like a GREAT vacation!!!
I've always wanted to go to Pinetop. The timeshare looks like my kind of vacation!
I've been waiting impatiently for you to post about your vacation. It sounds like you had a wonderful time and did a good job of minimizing the cost.
Thanks for sharing!
What fun! We went up that way in July, then in August, and again shortly for September. The kids and us simply can't get enough of the cool weather, pine trees, and the quiet. Ours is cheap as well, haul the 5th wheel up and the campground is free. What more could you ask for. Glad you had such a good week up there.
I need a nice relaxing vaca. Can I go next time?!?!
